Dawn Tyler Watson

Born in England, Dawn Tyler Watson emigrated to Canada with her family in childhood. She moved to Montreal to study jazz at Concordia University, earning her BFA in Jazz Studies, and continues to mentor students there. Her debut blues album Ten Dollar Dress was released in 2001. Her solo album, Jawbreaker!, won the International Blues Challenge in 2017. Her 2019 album, Mad Love, was met with huge praise, winning the JUNO Award for Blues Album of the Year in 2020. Among her many other accolades, Watson is a six-time Maple Blues Award winner. Watson has established herself in the Montreal – and international – blues scene with her electric stage presence and has shared the stage among accomplished artists like Jeff Healey, Koko Taylor, Alberta Adams, and Cyndi Lauper. Watson is known for delivering soulful, gut-wrenching performances and continues to tour while working on her next studio album.
