The OBGMs (‘The oOohh Baby Gimme Mores’) is a Toronto-based punk-rock band consisting of band members: Densil “Denz” McFarlane (lead vocalist and guitarist), Colanthony “Cola” Humphrey (drummer), Simon Outhit (guitarist), and Joe Brosnan (bassist). Their alternative musical style and aesthetic have been described as reminiscent of bands like Nirvana, The Hives, and The Germs. The OBGMs are Canada’s longest running, and most successful Black-fronted punk band that started with the collaboration of McFarlane and Humphrey in 2007 in Humphrey’s mom’s basement. Spurred by the violence and tragedy surrounding both their lives at that point in time, Humphreys and McFarlane turned to music to form one of the first Black punk-rock bands in Toronto in an effort to create something different. From the start of the band’s formation, they have been largely self-funded and independent, releasing their first EP Interchorus, in 2009 and self-titled album in 2017. After taking a break, the band revived in 2020 as the Toronto punk scene grew thanks to the popularity of groups like PUP, and leadman, McFarlane’s desire to return to music due to a renewed fervor in speaking out on race, art, and the Black experience.

Since 2020, they have released the albums, The Ends (2020) and Sorry, It’s Over (2024), both albums being one of ten chosen for the shortlist of the Polaris Music Prize—an annual music award given to the best full-length Canadian album based on artistic merit. Sorry, It’s Over was nominated for Best Alternative Album of the Year at the 2026 JUNO Awards. They have continued touring, gigging, and performing locally, nationally, and globally, sharing the stage with acts like The Roots, Pusha T, Saul Williams, Sum 41, PUP, and Death From Above 1979. In 2021, they launched their music/comedy podcast, Band Practice, where they discuss music, culture, race, and life.
