David Eastmond

Born in 1981, David Eastmond is a composer who grew up in Brampton, Ontario. He received a Bachelor of Music from the University of Toronto studying clarinet, music education, composition, and French. His love of music and wind band music began when he was in high school. He would play in different local community ensembles to improve his clarinet skills.
Eastmond began composing at a young age; his first wind band composition, “A Sailor’s Tale”, was written when he was only in his third year of high school. This work led him to becoming a freelance composer, with his music being played around the world. His piece “Saugeen Shores Overture”, a wind band composition, was commissioned by Southampton Summer Music in England and premiered by the Southampton Festival Winds in 2017, conducted by David Lynch. His other pieces include “With One Courageous Voice”, “We Rise with the Mountains”, and “Beyond the Blue Planet”. He has been a member of SOCAN since 2005. When he is not composing, he spends his time as a software developer.
