Papa Levy

Papa Levy is a reggae and dancehall musician who brought his many talents with him from Kingston, Jamaica to Toronto, Canada when he migrated in the 1990’s. Born Philip Levy, he grew up surrounded by music and took an interest at a young age. He performed at church, school concerts, and various talent shows.

He notes his inspirations to include people like Dennis Brown, Barrington Levy (his cousin), Prince Everald, and Al Campbell as his musical inspirations. His reach has gone international since the start of his career. Some of his more popular tracks include “Praise Without Raise”, “Stimulus Package”, “Things in Life”, and “Mr. Money Man”.

Levy began performing back home in Jamaica, getting his start at Epiphany nightclub. He began making a name for himself and then came to Toronto shortly after. He performed at various clubs throughout the city and with groups like The Blackburn and the Sattalites. He has since performed at numerous festivals, including Jambana, Indie Fest, and Afro Fest. His magnetic stage presence reels in audiences as he offers consistently remarkable performances.

He has released several albums and continues to make music as well as perform.
