Black HIstory Month at Queen's Park

The Office of the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario will host a Black History Month exhibit at Queen’s Park in Toronto from February 11 to 13, 2026. The in-suite display will feature collections from the Canada Black Music Archives, Black Diasporas Tkaronto-Toronto, and the Archives of Ontario, highlighting the cultural contributions of Black communities across the province.
The Canada Black Music Archives will present materials from B’LACK THEN: Muted Melodies, sharing the stories of 23 Black artists through photos, albums, clippings, films, and artifacts. Black Diasporas Tkaronto-Toronto will offer an interactive installation with community-led films and oral histories reflecting the experiences of more than 265,000 people of African descent in the city. The Archives of Ontario will preview images from its upcoming exhibition Illuminate Black: Shining Light on the Black Presence in Ontario, focusing on themes of joy, culture, and resilience.
The Honourable Edith Dumont, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, said the event celebrates the lasting impact of Black communities on Ontario’s history and society.
