Adrian “Homer” Miller is a reggae artist and a pioneer of ska/two-tone in Canada, he was one of the few Jamaican-Canadians playing this genre. Born in Jamaica, Miller’s family moved to England in the late 1970’s before calling Malton, Ontario, home. The vibrant British ska scene remained with Miller, motivating him to bring the genre to wide audiences in Canada. The formation of the 20th Century Rebels in the early 1980’s featured Miller as the lead vocalist, alongside 9 other musicians Miller met while attending high school in Malton. The Rebels achieved success performing at various popular underground local venues in Toronto before disbanding in the mid-1980’s.
Miller began a solo career in 1985, featuring members of the Rebels on his self-produced EP Empty Promises released by Bridge Records in Canada. Other releases include the singles “Vengence of Jah”, “Brethren in Canada”, “Reach My Destiny/One and Only One” (with E.Miller), and “Trying to Conquer Me”. He appeared on Little Sixteen with Earth, Roots & Water in 1978, and the 1997 anthology Rude Boy on the Bus: The All Skanadian Club Volume III.
Miller is also linked to fellow reggae pioneers at Summer Records, a Canadian recording studio created by Jerry Brown, often referred to as the answer to Lee Perry’s studio, The Black Ark.
