Belinda Brady

Belinda Brady was born in Kingston, Jamaica and her father, a musician and entertainer, Carl Brady, inspired her to enter the entertainment industry early on. Belinda won the hearts of reggae lovers in Canada and the Caribbean by releasing hits “Wishing You Were Here,” Fall in Love”, and “Free Your Mind.” She worked with the artist Omi, who is famous for “Cheerleader”, and his hit singles “Peaches” and “Show Me.”
Belinda was nominated twice for the prestigious JUNO for her singles “Flex” and “Gifted Man.” She won the Canadian Urban Music Award for “Too Late” (1990) under the best R&B single category. She was feted as one of the UN Women honourees in Canada and acted as its music ambassador for a few years. She was recognized as one of the 100 Accomplished Black Women in 2018. Her focus on music is in genres like folk, pop, jazz, reggae, and electronic music.
