“Mathew Jehu Samuels was born in 1986 in Ontario. Boi-1da is a producer for Drake’s Sound Lable, OVO. He has made music for singers and groups such as Drake, Jay-Z, Eminem, Nicki Minaj, Kanye West, Lana Del Rey and Kendrick Lamar. Boi-1da got to work as the executive producer for Drake’s “If You’re Reading This, It’s Too Late.”
2006, his first project was Drake’s early mixtapes, “Room for Improvement.” After producing music for more big names in the industry over the years, in 2010, he produced his first song. Eminem’s “Not Afraid” and then went on to produce many songs for Drake’s second album, “Take Care” in 2011 and, in 2013, produced “5 AM in Toronto” for Drake.
Rihanna released her dancehall track “”Work”” in January 2016, which featured Drake and was produced by Boi-1da. The song topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart, marking the second time a Boi-1da-produced track had reached number one. Boi-1da continued producing dancehall tracks between 2016 and 2017, including “”Controlla”” by Drake, “”1 of 1″” by Tyga, “”Only U”” by PartyNextDoor, and “”Regret in Your Tears”” by Nicki Minaj. In October 2023, it was announced that Boi-1da had partnered with Bacardi, the alcohol brand, to release an AI-powered album called “”The A.I. Powered Album.”” The album involves training an AI model on a selection of his unreleased beats”
