Choclair’s debut album “Twenty One Years” was released in 1996 on his own independent label, Kneedeep Records. Acknowledged as one of the most successful Canadian rappers in the late ‘90s and early ‘00s, he has collaborated with names such as Ol Dirty Bastard and Saukrates. Choclair has won 4 Juno awards, and received 2 other nominations, as well as 5 Much Music Video Awards. He was awarded Artist of the Year from the Urban Music Association of Canada in 1999. He was the first Canadian signed to a major American label, Virgin’s Priority Records in 1999. His 1999 album “Ice Cold” went gold within 35 days of release, which includes the hit “Let’s Ride,” produced by fellow well-known Canadian artist Kardinall Offishall. Choclairs collaboration with the Rascalz on “The Northern Touch” further added to his achievements, securing a Gold Record.
