Jamie Sparks

Canadian R&B and Soul Singer, songwriter and producer Jamie Sparks was born in Nova Scotia, Canada. When he was young, Sparks played bass and worked with many African, R&B, Jazz and Calypso bands.

In 1998, Jamie Sparks released an album titled Jamie Sparks: The Time and later appeared on EMI’s Beat Factory Groove Essentials compilation. He released a seven-track EP called Jamie Sparks: Git Wit U in 2006. In 2000, he released a single titled “Unforgettable”, which was later re-released with remixes in song “Fun Tonight” in 2004, in collaboration with P. Diddy’s Daddy’s House Recording Studios, a division of Bad Boy Entertainment. Starting in the mid-2000s, Jamie became the head of operations for Kicksta Music Group/Kicksta Muzik Publishing, which operates in Canada and the U.S. They have a roster of talented artists, songwriters, and producers who contribute to their releases, remixes, and music for film/TV productions and record labels.

He has since released several albums including It’s the Music, Girls, We’re Gonna Make It, Rythem & Soul and Reggae Vibes, Back to the Funk, and Wake up Call. He wrote music for You’re Nobody ‘till Somebody Kills You– A Spike Lee joint,  and for the TV series 5th Ward. Sparks was nominated for the JUNO Awards in 2002 as the Best R&B/ Soul Recording and for R&B Artist of the Year at the Independent Music Awards in Canada. He also won Single Track Recording of the Year at the East Coast Music Awards (ECMA) in 2010.

The Montreal Jazz Festival presented him with the Award of Excellence – the Professional Publishers and Songwriter Award. He has also won eight East Coast Music Awards in Canada and two African Nova Scotian Music Awards. He is most recognized for his hit singles “Tender Love” and “Unforgettable.”
