Kaytranada

Louis Kevin Celestin, also known as Kaytranada was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti and relocated to Montreal where he was raised, and where his music career began. At the age of 15, Kaytranada made the decision to drop out of high school and pursue his music career full time.

His career began in 2010 as he released two projects as Kaytradamus before changing his name to Kaytranada in 2012. His electronic dance music includes a variety of musical styles like Afro-beat, hip-hop, funk, soul, and R&B, which allowed him to capture the attention of many people. In 2014, Kaytranada signed with XL Records and in the following year was the opening DJ for two nights during Madonna’s Rebel Hearts tour.

In 2016, Kaytranada released his first album, 99.9%, which included collaborations with Anderson .Paak, Syd, GoldLink, and many others. The album was successful as it won the Polaris Music Prize for album of the year in 2016, and Electronic Album of the Year at the 2017 JUNO Awards. It spent 36 weeks on the Billboard Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart, peaking at No. 2.

After the success of his debut album, Kaytranada then signed to RCA Records and released his second album, BUBBA, in 2019. This album featured a wide variety of musical styles like Afro-beat hip-hop, funk and soul which came together to make a cohesive dance album. Just like his first album, BUBBA was another successful release, as it reached No. 1 on the Billboard Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart. It also won a Grammy Award for Best Dance/Electronic Album in 2020 and the single “10%” won a Grammy for Best Dance Recording. BUBBA also went on to win Dance Recording of the year at the 2021 JUNO Awards.

Kaytranada has toured around the world, as he spent 2023 touring with The Weeknd and performing at major festivals like Coachella. Aside from his own music, Kaytranada is a successful producer who has credits on hundreds of tracks dating back to 2010, for artists such as Mobb Deep, Alica Keys, Snoop Dogg and Mary J. Blige.
