Born in Edmonton, Alberta, and raised in both Canada and Jamaica, Kreesha Turner began her musical career after winning a local radio talent contest in 2005. This resulted in a four-track EP which included the song “Bounce With Me,”. Her first studio album was released in 2008 under Virgin Records, titled Passion, and featured the number 1 most played song in Canada (at the time), “Don’t Call Me Baby.” The hit was also Turner’s first number 1 single on Billboard’s US Hot Dance Club Party. Turner earned two Juno Award nominations in 2009 for Best New Artist and Best Pop Album of The Year. She won the Canadian Radio Music Award for Best New Group/Solo Artist in the same year. Her following album in 2011, Tropic Electric, gained another Juno Award Nomination for Best R&B Album. Turner went on to receive a nomination in the 2012 MuchMusic Video Awards for Cinematography Video of the Year, and a 2013 Juno nomination for R&B/Soul Recording of the year.
