The Windsor native LUM is taking the Canadian rap scene by a storm. With his catchy hooks and vulnerable lyrics, he is a breath of fresh air to hip-hop and R&B fans across the nation.

For LUM, music is not a new found passion. At just four years old, he became fascinated with the positive feeling music evoked in him. Growing up, he looked up to artists like Micheal Jackson and Chris Brown—hoping to make a similar impact on the artistic industry. Because of this inspiration, he pursued dance and poetry throughout his younger years. During his late teens, however, LUM decided to focus on making music. He debuted with the track “TRUE LUV””, under the alias LUM in 2019. His stage name comes from the artist’s childhood nickname “LUM LUM,” — which he gained due to combining the words “Love mom” and “Num Num’s” as an infant.

In 2023, just four years after his debut, LUM was signed by Warner Music Canada and received the Amazon Breakthrough Artists award. Following these achievements, LUM released a string of successful tracks. Notably, in October 2023, he the track “Temptation” which features KILJ and Oliver Cronin. “Temptation” is a project that combines influences from America, Canada and Australia to create a track about desire. The single secured a spot on the Amazon Music’s Rotation North Billboard at Toronto’s Yonge-Dundas Square and was cosigned by well-respected hip-hop entities like Complex Canada and Toronto’s radio station Vibe 105.

In January of 2024, LUM continued the trend of success with the release of “Motions.” In the hard-hitting track, he explores the emotional complexities of love and friendship. Through sophisticated lyricism and a catchy beat, the track aims to uplift those going through rough experiences. Following the release of the track, LUM embarked on a North American tour and received a considerable amount of media coverage.

Currently, LUM continues to create music and perform across North America. He hopes to continue connecting with his fans through his music and inspire young people to pursue the craft.
