Shermar Cuba Paul, professionally known as Night Lovell, is a Canadian rapper, and songwriter, who was born in Ottawa, Ontario. Growing up in a musical environment, he started writing rap lyrics at 14 and recording music shortly after. He first started producing beats under the name KLNV (or Killanov) as he started rapping in 2013, he took on the name Night Lovell. In 2013 he started uploading his music to SoundCloud where his first release “I Don’t Know” gained a lot of attention. In 2014 his song “Dark Light” went viral which was followed by his mixtape Concept Vague in 2015. The mixtape was well received by his fans and critics.
Following the success of his mixtape, Lovell has released four studio albums; Red Teenage Melody in 2016, Goodnight Lovell in 2019, Just Say You Don’t Care in 2021, and I Hope You’re Happy in 2023. He has also collaborated with artists such as $uicideBoy$, Lil West, Lil Xan, and ThouxanbanFauni, among others throughout his career. His dark and atmospheric sound incorporates elements of drill, trap and cloud rap and has attracted the attention of millions as he has accumulated over 750 million streams on Spotify worldwide. Lovell has indulged in other creative works, as he has a documentary Night Lovell Rising that was showcased at the 2021 Canadian Juno Awards. Following the release of his latest album, I Hope You’re Happy, Lovell is currently on the road for his 2024 North American tour the I Hope You’re Happy tour. Lovell continues to express his emotions and experiences through his music through different styles and beats which has allowed him to gain the attention of millions around the world.
