Norris Ridguard

Jamaican born, Norris Ridguard, was a talented trombone and trumpeter known for playing with funk/psch-soul band Cane and Able. Also known as Nicky Norris/ Nicky Ridguard, he was a highly regarded vocalist and instrumentalist. He would appear in musical acts in North America, Europe, Jamaica. In the 1960s’, Ridguard played with reggae pillars, Byron Lee and the Dragonaires, with credits on multiple of their albums. Afterward, in the 1970s’ he moved to Europe, performing with band Cane and Able, contributing to a 1972 self-titled work and album Relating A Message To You. In 1978, he released solo album, Reggae Christmas, released under Nickey Norris. Ridguard was a huge inspiration for Toronto legend, Jay Douglas, playing for a brief time with Douglas’ band, The Cougars, while in Toronto, Ontario.
