Highly-sought after vocalist, Quisha Wint, is a multi-talented artist from Ontario. Born and raised in a Jamaican/Canadian household, she was surrounded by reggae, motown, gospel, and R&B while growing up, contributing to her musical inclinations. Following her passion, she attended Humber College in the 90s and began studies in their jazz program. Soon after, she was traveling overseas and performing with some of Canada’s premier talents.
The former Canadian Idol contestant and Choir Master has since been dubbed “Toronto’s Soul Queen” by iHeartRadio’s Jerry Agar. Her transformative lyrics and Aretha-inspired vocals have made her a staple in the city and beyond. After finishing in the top 30 of Canadian Idol, she was called by Haydain Neale– the late bandleader of Jacksoul, to join him as a background vocalist. She went on to perform in front of sold-out crowds and has since gone global, performing around North America, Asia, Europe and the Caribbean. Wint’s smooth vocals can even be found on screen, singing on hit track “Calling All Angels” in the 2000 film Pay It Forward, starring Helen Hunt, Kevin Spacey, and Haley Joel Osment.
Her 2021 album My Life features popular track “Black Shoes” which went #1 on the Indie Music Artists charts. The song is a metaphor for racial disparity and opens a dialogue on issues of race and trauma. Wint strives to keep her music “genuine, authentic, pure, and transparent.” She acts as a Creative Director for many programs including QW Productions, which she is a co-founder of. In 2024, the accomplished musician was made Chair of the Toronto Blues Society.
