Robert Ball

Toronto-based singer songwriter, Robert Ball, is continuing his family legacy of spreading love and hope for the masses. The soul artist has been in the industry for over two decades, with experience both on screen, in theatre, and in the studio.

He comes from a line of Ontario gospel singers from the 1900s; they travelled across the U.S and Canada for approximately 40 years as the Ball Family Jubilee Singers. The Ball family are descendants from the underground railroad and were led by Reverend Richard Amos Ball. Robert Ball now shares his family’s story and expresses his life’s journey through music.

Ball discovered his love for the performing arts through a program at the Claude Watson School for the Arts in North York, and then continued his education at Humber College. He began his career in the gospel circuits and has since mastered smooth and measured vocals. Throughout his career he has worked with accomplished artists like Keshia Chanté, Mya, Kim Burnell, Big Freedia, Shawn Mendes and more. He has also worked with producers like Promise, Saukrates, and Ray Angry.

Ball has made a name for himself in theatre as well, performing and producing plays across Ontario including the Stratford Festival. More recently he starred in Evita as Magaldi at the Drayton Entertainment theatre. He has been featured on radio and television, appearing on CBC, CTV, CP24, and more. For a decade, he toured with the Royal Caribbean International as a featured vocalist and headliner, travelling to over 60 countries.

Ball has released several singles and EPs throughout his career and has had his original music played on Degrassi in cities across Europe, Canada, and the U.S.

He continues to work and advocate in the LGBTQ+ community, performing in various Pride festivals and is an Event Producer for the Black Gay Men’s Network (BGMN) for Ontario. Ball is a strong mentor, having worked as a vocal coach at Sheridan College and a teaching artist at the NIA Centre for the Arts.
