Witch Prophet

Etmet Musa, also known by her alias Ayo Lelani, is an Ethiopian/Eritrean musician based in Toronto known as Witch Prophet. Her music can be described as alternative R&B with an operatic soul behind it. She was a part of the electro-hip-hop group Above Top Secret and was a part in the creation and release of several of their albums.

She then went on to her solo career as Witch Prophet with her debut album The Golden Octave (2018). Her second album, DNA ACTIVATION (2020), is an ode to her Ethiopian and Eritrean roots with songs sung in English, Amharic and Tigrinya. Additionally, she named the track songs after her family members. Her third album, Gateway Experience (2023) which focuses on her sharing her experience of having focal-aware seizures. In the album, she digs into the relationship between the brain, dreams, seizures, God, and otherworldly abilities. Her unique blend of jazz, hip-hop, and soul makes her a stand out rising talent.

In addition to her musical works, Witch Prophet has left a mark on the Toronto hip-hop scene through her work off the stage. This can be seen through her co-founding and being co-director of the artistic collective 88 Days of Fortune, which started in 2009 and was the starting place for artists such as Keita Juma, Brendon Philip, and BizZarh. Though 88 Days of Fortune did not last in the long term, it was reformed into Heart Lake Records, which Witch Prophet currently leads as the President and CEO.
