WondaGurl

Ebony Naomi Oshunrinde, also known as WondaGurl, is a successful songwriter and producer who started producing beats on her keyboard and drum pads at the age of 9. At the age of 15, she entered the 2011 and 2012 Battle of The Beat Makers competition, held in Toronto, Ontario. Canadian record producer Boi-1da was a guest judge for both years, and after winning the competition in 2012, WondaGurl became a protege of Boi-1da shortly after. At the age of 16, she started working closely with rapper Travis Scott, and worked on the track “Crown” for Jay-Z with Travis Scott and record producer Mike Dean. This allowed her to work alongside other major artists and producers, and in 2015 she achieved her first Top 40 hit single for the song “Antidote” by Travis Scott.

The following years brought even more success as in 2018 she was featured in the Music category of Forbes 30 under 30, as one of the youngest women to produce a platinum-selling hip-hop album. In July of 2020, she signed a publishing deal with Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack Publishing and Sony/ATV Music Publishing, alongside her own record label and publishing company, Wonderchild Music. In 2021 Wondagurl became the first Black Canadian woman and the first woman to ever win as a producer for other artists, rather than as an artist producing their own work. She also won the Jack Richardson Producer of the Year Award at the 2021 JUNO Awards for her work on the songs “Aim for the Moon” by Pop Smoke featuring Quavo and “Gang Gang” by the JackBoys and Sheck Wes. She has also gone on to work with artists such as Drake, Rihanna, Don Toliver, Lil Uzi Vert, and Kanye West. At such a young age Wondagurl has gone on to make a name for herself, as well as a successful career.
