Launch Event
The Canada Black Music Archives
On November 23rd The Canada Black Music Archive (CBMA) celebrated an unforgettable official launch event at the City of Toronto Archives.
The night started off with heartfelt words from the CBMA’s executive director, Phil Vassell, followed by a performance by Liberty Sliver and Eddie Bullen, captivating everyone in attendance through their lively performance.
After their entrancing performance, DJ Carl Allen took over and provided a mix of Black Canadian music as attendees explored the CBMA’s work. From copies of Word Magazine to banners showcasing legends like Oscar Peterson and Jackie Mittoo, attendees had the opportunity to engage with the work being done at the CBMA.
The evening came to an end with a memorable performance by Mr. Jay Douglas, which left everyone amazed. We would like to thank all who joined in, marking the beginning of CBMA’s journey in celebrating Black Canadian music!
